The Book of Books

My Dear Friends in Christ.

"The Leaven" greets you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who never wrote a book, yet was wiser than anyone known to man, and was the source and inspiration of more books ever written worldwide.

Books are indescribable treasures.  Imagine a world without books!  From kindergarten to the time our eyes go dim, we gravitate to them and even then we turn to Braille.  Charles Kingsley had some profound thoughts on the subject.  He said, "Except a living man, there is nothing more wonderful than a book!  A message to us from the dead--from souls we never saw,... And yet, these in those little sheets of paper speak to us, arouse us, terrify us, teach us, open their hear to us..."

But there is-one Book (Library) that does all these things and more. You remember Patrick Henry, who is known to us (through books) for his oratory skills and that illustrious quotation,  "Give me liberty or give me death," well he had another, that we seldom hear about.

He said:  "There is a Book worth all other books which were ever printed.  That Book is the Bible."  Don't limit your reading only to the lessons read in Church on Sundays.  Take up the Bible and read it.  And as Charles Kingsley says, it will arouse you, teach you, terrify you, confront you, and most of all say you. Every blessing.

Yours in Christ
