Rector's Message
Sunday
April 28, 2002IN MY NAME
My Dear Friends in Christ,
'"The Leaven" greets you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who said, "whatever you ask in my name ...., I will do it." Some names bear power; others evoke fear, some wield influence, while others inspire freedom, accomplishments and hope.
But among the many names, both of the past and the present, with which we are familiar, the name of Jesus stands tall and unequalled among them all. His influence and greatness lies, not only in his moral and spiritual authority, but also in h is ability to inspire hope in the salvation of humankind, but encouraging us to make effective use of His Name.
Take a look at the Gospel reading (John 14:1-14) for today. There you'll see Jesus challenging His disciples to tap into His power through the use of His Name. The appropriate application of His Name will result in the enrichment and fulfillment of their lives.
He said to them, "... I tell you, the one who believes in me will (also) do greater works than these... I will do whatever you ask in my name... if in my Name you ask me for anything, I will do it.
I want each of you to try this challenge of Jesus, beginning today, and I will hear your testimony on Sunday, May 9, 2002 during the 11:00 a.m. service.
So put your faith and requests to the test.
Every Blessing.
Yours in Christ
